Arkansas' Dominic Ficociello

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas sophomore infielder Dominic Ficociello was recognized for his performance against Northwestern State and Valparaiso last week by being named the SEBaseball.com Player of the Week on Monday.

Ficociello is the second straight Razorback to be recognized by SEBaseball.com. Last week, junior infielder Matt Reynolds was named player of the week by the website.

A native of Fullerton, Calif., Ficociello finished the week with a .476 batting average with five RBI and six runs scored. He had at least one hit in each of Arkansas’ five games during the week and had three multi-hit performances. Ficociello also had at least one RBI in four of the five games. The infielder posted a .542 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage. During Arkansas’ weekend series against Valparaiso, Ficociello hit .538 with two RBI and four runs scored. In the series finale against the Crusaders, Ficociello reached base all six times he came to the plate, tying a career-high with four hits, drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch.

For the season, Ficociello is hitting .406 with eight RBI and 10 runs scored. He ranks second on the team with four doubles. Defensively, Ficociello has not committed an error in 83 chances.
