WEEK 3 Major League notes here in “9-INNINGS”…

In a surprise move,
Kansas City announced this week that Alex Gordon
would be sent down to AAA Omaha; Gordon has not played to
the expectations that followed him after he completely
dominated college then minor league pitchers; hopefully he
regains his confidence with this demotion and he is able to
return to KC later this year...

Baltimore's Matt
Wieters turned on the power this week launching 3 jacks;
Wieters had not hit a home-run since the first week of the
season...

Washington's Ryan
Zimmerman lit up the offensive categories after going
6-for-15 with 3 2B's, 2 HR's and 3 RBI's; it was the second
week in a row following a minor injury where Zim impressed
with the bat...

After failing to notch a
win so far this year, Arizona's Ian Kennedy notched
two wins over the past 7-days; over a combined 14.2 IP,
Kennedy allowed just 4 runs, fanned 9 and walked 3; his ERA
on the year stands at 3.65...

Cincinnati rookie Mike
Leake continues to impress; this past week he logged his
second win to keep him perfect at 2-0...

Detroit's Justin
Verlander pitched a gem this week against LA's Jered
Weaver (Verlander's teammate on the 2003 USA National Team);
Verlander tossed 8.1 IP allowing just 1 run on a paltry 3
hits...
